A long road back

Noja, España

I had a very rough night last night. At four in the morning I woke up, hearing Luc murmuring. He was doing it more than usual so I figured he was about ready to get up. Yes, I thought it was morning. You see yesterday morning when he woke up it didn't seem like morning. (They have metal blinds that makes it pitch black inside.) So I thought 'Oh it's probably morning.' So Luc did wake up and stand up and I picked him up and walked out the room. I looked out the window and no, not morning. Kevin saw me up and took Luc and then it was a bit hard getting him back to sleep. But it was even harder getting me back to sleep. So there I was, wide awake at 4 in the morning. It was probably five or so when I finally got to sleep.

Anyways today we went to Noja. It's a small beach town about an hour or so away. Normally it has about 2,635 residents that live there full time. But in the summer time the number increases to 60,000 people. Basically it's just a bunch of apartment buildings, a few restaurants, and two beaches. It reminds me of a slightly worse Hilton Head. It's more of a place for families with small children. Luc was just walking around wheeling his little toy around and sitting by the pool, putting his hands in the water.

On the way back we tried to avoid traffic and took the longer way back. It was not the best idea. It took two hours longer and they were long twisting roads up a mountain and then back down it. What a headache I had! However, the sites were beautiful. That last photo is a picture I took while on the ride back. It's so funny how small towns just pop up in the middle of no where.

No outfit photo today. I slept in today and then didn't have too much time getting ready. My hair was a disaster so I had absolutely no inspiration to get dressed. Anyways, hopefully tomorrow I'll have more inspiration.

ven conmigo

We went to San Sebastián today. Here are some photos. (Some, what am I talking about, lots. Oh yeah and lots of Luc.)

Quiero vivir en España. All of my friends and family should learn Spanish, because I have decided I am moving here. It may not be next year or the next but it will happen, my friends. And don't think I'm not serious. I just love it here. The lifestyle, the closeness of so many different countries. It would be so cool if I could go next year for school, but I don't if that could work (since I don't know very much Spanish. But next year I am going to try very hard to learn it.)

Anyways, San Sebastián was a very cool city. Apparently it's very expensive though. I love how close all the countries are. There were lots of French people in San Sebastián since it is just about at the border. There were so many stylish people there as well. I saw countless cute girls I would've loved to compliment and taken a picture of. High waisted shorts! Oh how I had clothes envy. It's not only there though. Even in this small little town, there are stylish people everywhere. There is just a wider variety of brands and stores here. Everyone can be unique!

I'm so glad I have gotten able to meet the baby. Luc is so adorable. He wasn't so sure about me yesterday, but he has warmed up a bit to me more today. As we walked through San Sebastián, he would just giggle, giggle, giggle. He's such a happy little boy. But very stubborn. He'll start crying immediately if he doesn't get his way. But then again, he stops pretty quickly as well.

Today I wore the dress I bought in H&M. I find it very flattering on me. I like it a lot. I used my vintage blouse as a sweater because it gets so cold at night! Please excuse my hair. My straightener does not work here. What am I going to do?!

I don't like uniforms at all but some of it is just ridiculous.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Beaufort County School District has determined that reasonable regulation of school attire can further important educational interests, including the following:

• Reducing distraction and loss of self-esteem caused by teasing or competition over clothing.
• Minimizing disruption from wearing inappropriate clothing or possessing inappropriate items at school.
• Providing an environment where students can focus more on learning. Enhancing school safety by making it harder to conceal weapons or contraband.
• Enhancing school safety by helping teachers and administrators identify individuals that are not enrolled in the school when they encounter them on school grounds.
• Enhancing school safety by prohibiting gang colors and paraphernalia.
• Reducing the cost of school clothing. (Isn't more expensive now that we have to buy all new clothing?)
• Providing an educational environment where financial disparities between students, as reflected in clothing, are minimized
• Creating a greater sense of community and school pride among the students..
• Instilling discipline in students.
• Helping students and parents/legal guardians to avoid peer pressure.
• Helping prepare students for future roles in the workplace.
• Creating an atmosphere reflecting seriousness of purpose about education.

REQUIREMENTS

Shirts, sweaters and sweatshirts (tops)

• T ops may be solid white or any shade of pink, blue or gray.
• Students must wear plain shirts with a collar. Mock turtlenecks and turtlenecks are acceptable.
• Shirts may have school-approved logos (see attached).
• Shirts must be tucked in provided that the type of shirt is reasonably worn out, not more than 1 inch below the waist.
• White t-shirts (long or short sleeves) may be worn under uniform shirts.
• Students may wear plain, un-hooded sweaters or sweatshirts over school uniforms. The sweaters or sweatshirts may be solid white, gray or any shade of pink or blue.

Pants, skirts, skorts, jumpers, Capri length pants and shorts (bottoms)

• Bottoms may be solid khaki, black or navy. Skirts may be designated plaid.
• Jeans are not permitted.
• Bottoms must be free of graphics and embroidery. With the exception of small labels, bottoms may not have insignias, words or pictures.
• Shorts, skirts, skorts and jumpers will be modest and of sufficient length. The length of these articles of clothing will be no shorter than three inches above the top of the knee when standing.
• Cargo-style pants or shorts are not permitted.
• Clothing may not exceed one size larger than necessary as determined by a school administrator. Baggy or sagging pants or shorts are not permitted. "Low rise" clothing is not permitted. Pants, shorts and skirts must be worn at the natural waistline.
• Belts must be worn if pants, skirts, skorts or shorts have belt loops (exceptions may be made by administration). Belt buckles must not be oversized, computerized or have any writing that is considered offensive.

Coats and jackets (outerwear)

• Outerwear may not be worn inside the school building during the school day.
• Outerwear may be worn during a class change if the student is exiting the building.
• Outerwear may be worn to school and placed in the student's locker.
• The principal and/or his/her designee may make an exception if the building/classroom is unusually cold.

Shoes, sneakers and boots (footwear)

• Footwear must be worn at all times and as needed, shoes will conform to special requirements, e.g. PE classes, ROTC, science labs, etc.
• Laces on shoes or sneakers must be tied.
• Flip flops, crocs or slippers are not permitted.
• Heelies are not permitted.

Other clothing items or accessories

• Students may not wear large pendants or medallions.
• Any adornment that could be perceived as, or used as a weapon such as chains, spikes, etc., is not permitted.
• Gang-related clothing, accessories, symbols or intimidating items of dress, as identified by local law enforcement agencies, are not permitted.
• Head coverings of any kind including, but not limited to, hats, caps, bandanas, curlers, masks, visors, kerchiefs, athletic sweatbands, earmuffs, sunglasses or hoods are not permitted. Head coverings will not be worn, carried, hung on belts or around the neck or kept in classrooms during regular school hours.

By the way, I'm not totally against uniforms. I mean yeah, no creativity allowed. But I just wish it were either really strict (think Catholic school) or none at all. Also, this isn't quite as bad as district wants. On the district's code, it says shoes have to be black, brown, or white, no colored beads or oversized necklaces, no skinny jeans, and also limitations on socks. Anyways I'm too tired to write to much. Hopefully I will have a real post up by tomorrow.

Today was a very lazy day. Carly and I watched When In Rome. I had been wanting to see it for a while, but, man, we should've gotten Julie and Julia. So so sooo cheesy. I mean most rom coms are, but this one was over the top. I was embarrassed I picked it out.

Tomorrow will be a very very long day. I calculated it and I have 15 hours of traveling and being in airports. What am I going to do?! Of course I'm so excited to be in Spain. But man how am I going to entertain myself? If you have any creative suggestions, comment please!

The next time I'll be posting, I'll be in Spain!!! Woohoo!

Today was a bit boring. I woke up late, got ready, then we did a bunch of errands. We finished it up by going to H&M and I got a very cute dress. I should be wearing it sometime soon. We also went to the dog park tonight. It's always fun to watch dogs play. However it's not so fun getting slobbered on.

So the vest I'm wearing was something Ellana and I got in the dollar bin. At first I thought I'd never wear it. But I really liked it with this outfit. It made a simple outfit more interesting.

I go to Spain in one more day! How exciting! There's just that long day of travel! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to entertain myself? I don't know how I will survive.

Anyways, who would've thought I would've ever worn wide legged jeans? So weird! But I like them! And the shirt is very cool. Thank you, San Diego! I have a feeling it's going to be very hard to come up with outfits while in Spain. I didn't pack that many clothes but hopefully I'll be able to get a few good outfit posts!

Farewell San Diego. I'm going to miss Ellana and Colin, Zeena, and Ellana's camera. No more clear and crisp pictures until my birthday. I shall be posting some of these pictures on lookbook so I'll be adding a hype button when I do it!

We need to go shopping now so this is all I will say.
